Greenwich

Well after some drizzly weather and a big sleep in prevented us from getting out of London this weekend, we decided it would be worth doing a day trip to check out Greenwich. To get there, we passed through Canary Wharf (Stephen's new work) and I even got to check out his building! With all the large skyscrapers in this newly developed area it is hard to believe that you are still in London.
The Barclay's building is the the rightmost building above

We continued on via the light rail until we got to Cutty Sark where we were stumbled across the Greenwich markets (see below) - these markets were very cute with lots of fresh food and arts and crafts.

Inside the market we were thrilled to find a small games shop (see below) with every game you could imagine.....including Setters of Catan - the 2 player version (and every other expansion set to the original). A quick purchase was made!

Our exploration continued......to the National Maritime Museum where we learnt about Britain's naval history (including who Nelson was - see Stephen's earlier post!) and saw this cool stained glass window (originally from the Baltic Reserve), and then to the Greenwich Observatory......

....where we took turns standing across the eastern/western hemisphere's. Overall, a good afternoon out. Greenwich is a pretty town with some interesting things to see and do - definitely worth an afternoon out!
