Bec’s Visit

Well this weekend Bec (a uni friend) came across from where she is studying perfumery in Grass (France).

She arrived in late Friday night so after a lazy start to Saturday we headed down to London Bridge where we checked out Borough Markets. Borough Markets are fresh food markets and definitely worth checking out – even if you don’t need to stock up they do a good coffee and lunch! Stephen checked out the Ostrich Burger while I stocked up on the fresh fruit and berries.

On Saturday night we meet up with Michelle and Mark – the night started at a pub in Kensington where we watched the Aussies in the cricket J before heading to Kensington Roof Gardens for a very yummy meal. Unfortunately the club attached the restaurant was shut but we managed to find another place nearby to get in and boogie the night (and morning) away.

Sunday morning we got up early and headed down to the Globe Theatre (Replica of Shakespeare’s Theatre). Fortunately, they run tours every half hour (tours are about 40 mins long) so we got to check out the theatre and learn all about its history. For anyone coming over to London there are plays run from May until September (tickets start at £5) which would be a fun afternoon/evening out.

From the Globe Theatre we walked across the Millennium Bridge and past St Paul’s to arrive just in time to go to a matinee performance of Stomp. Although not quite what I was expecting, it was a thoroughly entertaining performance.

Finally, to finish off the weekend we headed to Brick Lane (a street lined with Indian restaurants) for a curry. Although the restaurant we went to was average (alright downright awful) I am assured that if you know where to go it can be fantastic…and anyway the company was great.

So Monday morning soon arrived – a very fun weekend although very exhausting....but a long weekend in Edinburgh next weekend to look forward to!
