Unbelievably, today marks exactly one year since we arrived in London...can't believe that it has gone so fast! So much has happened since we piled onto a peak-hour Picadilly-line tube with all 5 suitcases that I barely know where to start...Some of the highlights have been the visits from David and Di and Jessie and Malcolm, catching up with visiting friends, and of course the trip to Egypt!
We've been able to check out a whole bunch of cool places, and meet some great people...so a big thanks to our new friends over here (and the other Aussies who beat us across) for making us feel welcome. One of the things that surprised me was just how international our friends over here are - in my team at work I've got a German, a Frenchman, a Swiss and a Pole (sounds like the start of a bad joke I know). We were at a birthday party a little while back and sat on a table with an Italian, a Pole and some Venezuelans...in fact I probably know more people from outside England than I do from inside...but that is London for you!
We've had a great year, and have lots to look forward to in 2008 - we've got a steady stream of visitors from Oz, plus some great trips planned (Poland, Switzerland, skiing and Croatia booked in so far). We're missing everyone back home, though, and it would be great to know that people are reading this blog so messages in the comments letting us know how you are are always welcome...would help us feel a bit closer to you!
